Istrian bellflower

Description

The Istrian bellflower (Latin: *Campanula fenestrellata* subsp. *istriaca*) is an endemic plant. It grows only on the eastern coast of Istria, on several Kvarner islands, including the island of Krk and Vrbnik, as well at the base of Mount Velebit.

A stroll through the old town of Vrbnik leaves an unforgettable impression when, from mid-May to mid-June, blue "cascades" of bellflowers bloom on the stone walls of old houses, bell towers, and medieval fortifications.
