Additional information

After exploring the old town Vrbnik, with its houses nestled in narrow winding streets, begin your journey into the picturesque villages located in the heart of the island. The trail starts with a gentle ascent through vineyards towards Dobrinj, a museum town. Stop here and breathe in the spirit of the past. They say Dobrinj is a town of good people, so chat with them or play the sopela, an indigenous wind instrument. Art lovers will enjoy the exhibits at the Infeld Gallery, while a visit to the Ethnographic Museum will provide tangible evidence of the former life of Dobrinj.

Continue downwards towards Kras, then through the villages of Lakmartin, Muraj, and Kornić to Dunat, a cove in Puntarska Draga with the church of St. Dunat. The tradition of sheep farming and olive cultivation is visible at every turn, so local sheep cheese and olive oil are products to take home as the best edible souvenirs. On the final ascent back to Vrbnik, stop under the canopy of the largest and oldest tree on the island, the “koprivića.” Take a look at the Misučajnica pond on the other side of the road, where livestock used to drink in the past, and according to legend, fairies would gather there. With the scent of grapes from the Vrbnik vineyards, you will arrive back in Vrbnik. Try the šurlice with lamb stew, indulge in presnec for dessert, and toast with a glass of premium golden-yellow Žlahtina wine.
